All for the past year or two I have been on such a huge Jujutsu Kaisen kick. I loved that show. I ate, breathed, and slept the lore and made cosplays and drew fanart and roleplayed stories with
insidious. It was my top fandom and it even replaced One Piece for me.
But I'm swearing it off. I don't think the author can write himself out of a box. His characters are toys he likes to wave around without nuance beyond a throwaway comment or premeditated plot point that is never visited upon again because MOST of the cast is just there to die in a dramatic way and lift up his favorites. You can argue that there was purpose to it, but I think it was executed poorly. I even believed it for a while. But I feel disappointment after disappointment that so much foreshadowing was just thrown away or made into some wild plot choice that feels like it doesn't match the tone of the series he was building on. I'm even convinced some early character choices he made were concessions made to the editor, because those bits of story were dropped like nothing and never once revisited again.
Anyway.
New anime I'm into:
Blue Lock - It's like crack. Hunger Games meets soccer. Completely off the wall and fan-service, but the characters are hilarious and I love them.
Frieren - Really unique fantasy series that's got a low-key vibe like Lodoss but a more modern look, taking its time to analyze the emotions one has on a journey that is over before you know it. It's making me grateful for people I know in my life, trying to slow down. I think that is the message. It's a fun show, too.
Spy x Family - Like Sailor Moon x Baccano it's so funny and cute, holy crap. The characters are FUN stereotypes of spies and assassins and kids. I love this show.
Haikyu - A more practical sports anime but fun dumb antics and characters with high stakes investment being their best. I like it a lot.
Yu-Gi-Oh - Yes. Yes I am late. To the original. No I never watched it. Not even the dub. I think I saw a clip or two, I knew some cosplayers? IT MAKES NO FREAKING SENSE BUT IT'S CRACK, IN THE FUN WAY LMAO
Twelve Kingdoms - I started watching this and reading the novel, but lost track... so I'm starting over!
Showing
insidious Sailor Moon slowly as well. We're finally halfway through Sailor Moon S. RIP Eudial, you were the best part, but at least Tomoe is still being his crazy self.
